From this Giant Granadilla (Passiflora quadrangularis) you may expect spectacular flowers as well as huge fruits that gave this plant its name. The approximately 10cm large flowers are dark-red with rays in white-violet stripes- a striking combination. If in a greenhouse the green pistils in the flower’s center are pollinated by bees or bumblebees, fruits the size of a mango will appear. They contain a lot of aromatic pulp rich in vitamins and ripen until autumn. Characteristic of all evergreen or semi- evergreen Passiflora (depending on winter temperature) are the quadrangular, strong stems that requiere a larger mesh size for trellis than other more delicate Passiflora. Quality:edible & very big fruits; exotic and eye-catching flowers in red-violet; compact habit; fast-growing climber
Use: in pots from May to September outside on balcony, terrace or winter garden - during winter in the house; all year round in a heated greenhouse
