It is almost not possible to imagine a spice rack without the unique, spicy scent of dried cinnamon bark. The aroma is mainly contained in the reddish bark of Cinnamon (Cinnamonmum zeylanicum, Cinnamomum verum). For harvesting it, the bark is removed from cut off branches. The leaves, too, contain essential oils and are used as spice in all tropical climatic zones. The leaves are leathery, glossy evergreen and young leaves are flashy red. The first harvest can already begin with a small plant when Cinnamon still grows rather bushy. In this country, the small yellow flowers and subsequently fruits are rather rare. These tropical plants of the laurel-plant family need warm and humid conditions throughout the year.

Use: all year in a heated greenhouse or bright room; from May to September possibly planted in the garden in well protected places (balcony, terrace, garden)
