Description

The cat or cath shrub (Catha edulis) is also known as Arabian tea. It is native to tropical and southern Africa and grows as an evergreen shrub. Nowadays it is mainly cultivated in Yemen and Oman, Kenya and Ethiopia. The branch tips covered with young leaves are harvested. Users simply chew them as an everyday drug, keeping a "ball" of chewed leaves against the inside of their cheek. Here they lead for about two hours to a slightly stimulant effect, which is comparable to the consumption of tea or coffee up to the effect of amphetamines. However, excessive use can lead to symptoms of intoxication. For responsible individuals who have a botanical interest in useful plants from around the world, these plants, which are decidedly rare in this country, are a hazard-free temptation. The plant can be delivered provided that you send us a self-disclosure for scientific purposes.
