This fast-growing Passion Flower differs from the other by its winter hardiness. Even long lasting periods of frost don’t harm the roots if it is planted in the garden and in winter it is covered with a thick layer of leaves. The shoots above-ground will dy with falling temperatures in autumn but grow again in April/ May. The main blossom is in high-summer months July and August. If you cultivate Passiflora caerulea as pot plant and winter it in a bright room or wintergarden the blossom may continue until winter. Always care for a humidity of 60% and regularly sprinkle the leaves with water. The 10 petals are slightly blewish, the base and tips of the collar blewish with a white center. The variety ’Constance Eliott’ is purely white coloured exept for the filaments and the purple pistil. The leaves of both varieties is deeply incised and digitate with 5 to 7 segments. The thin and bendy shoots are sturdy in situations without too intense heat and with a continuos supply of water. The fruits have the size of a plum and are orange-coloured. They ripen until autumn and its fruit pulp is very aromatic.
