In this country the Crimson Bottlebrush is the most common and popular plant of a large plant genus. Just imagine a bottlebrush and you will know how the flowers of this Australian shrub look like, only that they are crimson! Hundreds of stamen with a length of 2 to 3 cm form a 10 cm long cylindrical flower, not only once but up to 4 times a year: In May and August on the terrace and additionally in October and February in wintergardens, bright rooms with glassfront. Interestingly, the seeds stick on the branches for many years and in their natural habitat only germ after intense heat by bush fire. The evergreen leaves, coloured red when young, are very tough and absolutely unattractive for pests, especially because they are rich in ethereal oil that giving a lemony fragrant to the leaves. The evergreen, naturally compact growing and frost-resistant tree top can easily be trimmed to a sperical bush or clear stem (with sperical top). There are only two conditions these robust plants require: they need a place in bright sunlight and the soil should never dry out.
