Although it is commonly called ‘Night-blooming Jasmine’ these intensely fragrant shrubs have nothing to do with the real Jasmine. The fragrance developes in the summer- and late summermonths during evening and night from clusters of slim, yellow-white and funnel-shaped flowers. It is a very strong perfume- but never too strong. Unlike the fragrance of hyacinth which can easily become too much, one will allways look forward to the perfume at night. However, this fragrance is difficult to describe: some people compare it to the scent of peach flowers, others with chewing gum. We think: it is unique and multi-faceted like a perfume created from many, secret components. Night-blooming Jasmine is a fast growing plant that grows well in the half- shade, where it is also easiest to provide sufficient water supply and keep the roots cool. In winter it drops leaves to a large extend- depending on light and temperature. New leaves appear with rising temperature in April/May.
